Oashi District Festival
[Taketoyo-Town]
Date : 7/14/2018 to 7/15/2018
  • Oashi District Festival
A summer tradition in Taketoyo Town known as the "Oashijaguruma Festival". In the daytime, a float called the Jyaguruma is pulled around the district, and at night, about ten kinds of set fireworks are let off in the Toyoishi-jinja Shrine grounds where the float is parked. One part of the fireworks show called the Janokuchi fireworks, which is associated with the legend of the tragic love between a dragon's daughter and a man, is performed on top of the float. The hand held fireworks swaying in big movements from side to side resemble the mouth of a dragon and make for an awesome sight.
