【 The spectacular float and the spirits of the people come together】
In the Tsurugasaki Festival, the gorgeous Tamaguruma float and a Charaboko float decorated with artificial flowers and lanterns parade the town with a line of some 200 people. There are two shrines in the town, the Yamagami-sha Shrine and Asama-sha Shrine, and each take turns to hold the Main Festival. The Sanbaso dance performances are held at every turn during the float parades. In the Yoi Festival, the flickering lanterns leave tracks of lights in the darkness, and the float makes its way into the shrine in a majestic manner, quite in contrast to its glamorous appearance during the day. In the Main Festival, the float enters the shrine at about 2:30 p.m., and the tempo of the festival music played by people including children becomes faster. The fascinating sight of the float being energetically pulled into the shrine grounds brings the spirits of the participants together with the spectacular float. It is as if you were watching illustrated handscrolls of the Edo period.
