Akiba-jinja Shrine & Hatake-jinja Shrine Grand Festival
[Tahara-City]
Date : Annually on the 2nd Sunday of October
  • Akiba-jinja Shrine & Hatake-jinja Shrine Grand Festival
The spirit of the deity of the Akiba-jinja Shrine, the tutelary shrine of the Konosu Beach facing Fukue Bay, is carried on the portable shrine to the Otabisho (the place where the portable shrine lodges during a festival) in the grounds of Hatake-jinja Shrine, where the Akiba-jinja Shrine Grand Festival and Shinto rituals are held. In order to welcome the portable shrine procession, the floats of each group of the town (Shimoji, Konya, Sawa, Hara, and Shintaku) are pulled out to meet the portable shrine. After the portable shrine procession has passed, the floats get together and parade around the town behind it playing festival music passed down in each group, and head for the Hatake-jinja Shrine.
