Hanaguruma Shinmei-sha Shrine Festival
[Nagoya-City]
Date : Annually on the 2nd weekend of October
  • Hanaguruma Shinmei-sha Shrine Festival
Hiroi Village existed before the city was transferred from Kiyosu to Nagoya. As a result, along with the two Danjiri floats of the Sannomaru Tenno Festival (the current Nagoya-jinja Shrine Festival), Mimaiguruma, small Nagoya-style floats for the purpose of dedicating lanterns to the Danjiri floats, participated from the relevant towns of shrine parishioners, such as Nagoya Village and Hiroi Village.
Apart from Sannomaru Tenno Festival, there is a Tenno Festival held only by Hiroi Village, at which floats are pulled. In 1818, when the Mimaiguruma floats were already participating in the festival, floats paraded in the Tenno Festival of Hiroi Village. Since the Meiji period, when Hiroi Village lost its relationship with Sannomaru Tenno-sha Shrine, the festival of Mimaiguruma floats has continued to be held as Hiroi Village's local Tenno Festival. Today, the festival is held on the 2nd Saturday and Sunday in October.
