- The Hachiman-sha Shrine Festival is held in April. According to notes written by the young men's association of Naka-gumi in 1781, it says that "We serve in the festival for protection from plagues held on June 10th every year, and at both this festival and the Hachimangu Shrine Festival held on August 15th since ancient times, performances of floats and Niwaka Kyogen (an impromptu comic interlude) are held." This tells us that the Hachimangu Shrine Festival was held on August 15th, and that floats and Niwaka Kyogen already existed. Records also show that a Sanbaso dance, shrine maiden dance, and a lion dance were performed in 1852. During the Meiji period, the festival dates were instructed by the town hall, and performances of the shrine maiden dance, lion dance, Sanbaso dance, and the float parade were held ("Kiyakusho" of Giretsu-gumi and Nishi-gumi in 1898). From before to after the war, the festival dates were April 5th and 6th, but they seem to have changed to April 14th and 15th from around 1951. It is currently held on the 2nd Sunday of April, and the Shigaku Festival on the day before.
