Itayama District Festival
[Handa-City]

  • Itayama District Festival
The Itayama District is an agricultural region located in the southwest of Handa City, with Tokoname City to the west and Taketoyo Town to the south. Godo River flows through the center of the town from east to west. On the north side of the river is Hiyaku, and on the south, Koita, Honitayama, and Oyu. They have developed individually as independent districts in the Edago of Narawa since the Edo period.
Although the origin of the Itayama District Festival is uncertain, when the Isami Taiko (drum) of Honitayama-gumi was repaired, it had 1831 inscribed on its inside, while 1835 was inscribed on the box of the Shishigashira (a mask for the lion dance) . Judging from these facts, it seems that the festival was being held at that time, whether it had floats or not.
