- In Morozaki, a festival is held on the 2nd Saturday of October to welcome the deity of Hazu-jinja Shrine to the village. The festival is call the Hazu-jinja Shrine Daimyo Gyoretsu Procession because the floats and a procession of Daimyo (feudal lords) guard the deity during the journey. Although the origin of the festival is uncertain, it is assumed from the inscription on the portable shrine stating, "Repaired in 1551", that it started in the middle of the Muromachi period. The five floats owned by the respective districts of Morozaki were built in various ages from the end of the Edo period to the Showa period, and the carvings on these floats by skilled craftsmen of the different eras are interesting to observe.
On the first day of the festival, the Okuruma floats of the five districts: Matoba, Torinishi, Torihigashi, Sakaemura, and Arai, go to bring back the Hazu-jinja Shrine deity.
After the Shinto ritual at the Hazu-jinja Shrine is over, the deity boards the portable shrine. The five floats lead the way to the Otabisho (place where the portable shrine lodges during a festival) established in the village, and the portable shrine with the deity follows. When the portable shrine arrives at the Otabisho, there is a dedication of shrine maidens dancing with bells, while the Daimyo Gyoretsu Procession that guards the deity is presented outside. At night, the men from the five districts gather at the square in front of the Otabisho, singing the Isami Ondo. Led by lanterns, men in dancing Yukata dedicate the Isami Ondo and dance to the deity, and then they carry on doing the Kake Odori and Makko Odori dances for about two and a half hours while singing the Morozaki Ondo.
The next day, the deity is seen off to the Hazu-jinja Shrine. After the Shinto ritual at the Otabisho, the portable shrine heads to the Hazu-jinja Shrine. Having guarded the portable shrine and seen it off at the shrine, the five floats return to their respective districts and are pulled around.
